What we collect

When you place an order

• Your name, email address and shipping address
• Your phone number, if you choose to give it
• What you ordered and what you paid
• Payment confirmation from our payment processor. We never receive or store your full card number, expiry date or security code.

When you use the site

• Standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed and the site or advert you arrived from
• Cookies and similar technologies, as described below

When you contact us

• Your email address and whatever you choose to tell us in your message, kept so we can help you and keep a record of the conversation

We do not ask for and do not want health information about you. Please do not send us details about your medical conditions: we are publishers, not clinicians, and we cannot advise you.

Why we use it

• To fulfil your order: take payment, print a label, ship the book, email your receipt, your digital gifts and your tracking number
• To support you: answer your questions, resend an email, replace a damaged copy, process a refund
• To keep the business running: accounting, tax records, fraud prevention and security
• To improve the site and our advertising: understanding, in aggregate, which pages and adverts work
• To send you offers, only if you asked for them: marketing email or text goes only to people who ticked the optional box. Order confirmations, gift delivery and shipping notices are not marketing and are sent to every customer.

Marketing, and how to stop it

Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one click is enough. For text messages, reply STOP. You can also simply email us and we will remove you. Unsubscribing never affects the emails about an order you have placed, and never affects your guarantee.

Who we share it with

We share only what is necessary, only with companies that work for us, and never for their own marketing:

• Payment processors to take payment securely
• Printing and fulfilment partners and carriers to make and deliver your book
• Email and helpdesk providers to send your receipt, gifts and tracking, and to answer you
• Analytics and advertising platforms for aggregate site measurement
• Professional advisers and authorities where the law requires it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising in exchange for money.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, to remember what is in your order, and to measure how our pages and adverts perform. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop checkout from working properly.

How long we keep it

Order and transaction records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, currently 7 years. Support emails are kept while they are useful for helping you. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

How we protect it

The site is served over encrypted HTTPS. Payment details are handled by our payment processors under their own security standards and never touch our servers. Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to do their job.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy
• Have it corrected if it is wrong
• Have it deleted
• Object to or restrict certain uses, including marketing
• Withdraw consent you previously gave
• Complain to your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these, email info@abetteryoueveryday.com. We will respond within the time the law allows, and we will never treat you differently for asking.

Children

This site and our products are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

International transfers

We are based in Canada and work with service providers in Canada, the United States and elsewhere, so your information may be processed outside your country. Where that happens we use providers who commit to appropriate safeguards.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on the site.
